“Open Doors, Open Hearts, Open
Minds.” These three brief
phrases, which appear each Sunday in our service bulletin, summarize what
we at St. Paul’s Church are trying to become as a
community of faith. We are a
fellowship of seekers, exploring the Christian Gospel and its implications
for our lives, and looking for new ways in which it can be applied as the
world around us -- and our understanding of that world -- changes.
If you are looking for
a community of perfect Christians, this isn’t it. We all have our share of foibles,
failures, and sins, but we know, in Jesus Christ, that we are forgiven
sinners, and that makes all the difference. In our halting way, we strive to
make the undying love and unlimited forgiveness of God a reality for one
another and for everyone we meet.
At the center of our
common life is our weekly celebration of the Holy Eucharist on Sunday
mornings, when we are nourished by the sacrament of Christ's Body and
Blood, celebrate our unity as followers of our Lord, and experience a
foretaste of that heavenly banquet which awaits us all.
All are welcome at our
weekly celebration, and we try to communicate the all-embracing love of God
by including the following statement in every Sunday bulletin: Whoever you are, wherever you
are on your journey of faith, you are welcome to receive Holy Communion at
the Lord's Table.
This
means you! We would love to
have you join us.

Bippus, Rector
